Mira Taliaferro is a mixed-media artist and animator based in Kansas City, Missouri. Mira creates textural time-based work using tactile material and digital techniques. Driven by their love of mate- rial experimentation, Mira is particularly passionate about stop-mo- tion filmmaking and fabrication. Taking inspiration from myth, fable, and their love of nature, their work explores themes of queer identity, trauma, and community.
In 2020, Mira received their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation at the Kansas City Art Institute. They graduated with their Master of Fine Arts in Animation from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2025. In addition to their independent practice, Mira is passionate about arts education. They currently work at the Kansas City Art Institute as an adjunct professor of stop-motion puppetry and as a full-time instructional assistant.
